VRHAP Info Sheet

The Center for Optimizing Rural Health (CORH) provides free targeted in-depth technical assistance to rural hospitals and their communities through the FORHP-funded Vulnerable Rural Hospital Assistance Program.  Each year, CORH works with a cohort of 30 hospitals and the application portal to apply is open now.

The application portal along with FAQ can be found at https://www.optimizingruralhealth.org/portal-application/. Remember, anybody can fill out the application on behalf of a hospital so State Offices of Rural Healths, state hospital associations, or any rural stakeholder can begin the process.  We encourage you to fill out the application to the best of your ability but don’t stress if you are unable to answer every question.  CORH is also are here to help rural hospitals and can be flexible in the application process!

CORH understands how disruptive COVID-19 has been to hospitals and so if you are unable to meet the application deadline of July 31st, please send an email with your interest at info@optimizingruralhealth.org.  On the email you only need to include:

  • the state(s),
  • CAH or PPS (designation)
  • the number of beds

CORH will work with you on an extension plan.  To learn more about the technical assistance program for rural hospitals:
