Telehealth Extension Information

The current Medicare telehealth waivers will temporarily extend Medicare telehealth coverage for at least 151 days (or five months) after the end of the public health emergency.

A few telehealth examples that fall under the temporary extension:

  • Delays implementation of in-person visit requirements for telemental health services under Medicare for five months.
  • Federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics will be allowed to offer telehealth for 151 days after the public health emergency.
  • Medicare will continue to cover occupational and physical therapy as well as speech-language pathology delivered through telehealth during the 151-day period.
