Tennessee physician shortage pilot program launches

A new University of Tennessee Health Science Center pilot program is part of a state-funded effort encouraging young doctors to take up rural practice. “It’s a rapidly growing need and it has been for years,” says rural physician Thomas Atkins. Additionally, a recent survey shows Arizona’s shortage of medical providers has one in five residents worried about accessing health care, and East Tennessee State University, an NRHA member, was recently selected as part of a consortium to lead public health research. Rural health needs those who go above and beyond. That’s why NRHA’s Career Center is your resource for qualified health care professionals and fulfilling careers.
