Join the Health Quality Innovation Network (HQIN) to learn about the role of standardized medical order sets in advance care planning. The speakers will provide an overview of Physicians Orders For Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) orders and standardized Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders and discuss accelerated advance care planning for use in epidemic and pandemic conditions. The session will conclude with a question and answer period.

Objectives:

  • Clearly differentiate medical orders from advance directives
  • Identify resources and tools for clinicians in facilitating accelerated ACP 
  • Improve proficiency in the use of standardized medical orders (Transportable Physician Orders for Patient Preferences [TPOPP], Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment [POST], POLST)

Intended audience: Physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses, social workers and other health care professionals.

Continuing education may be available from the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing. Please check with your state for reciprocity.
