NRHA Now Accepting RHC, CAH Event Presentation Proposals

The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) is now accepting presentation proposals for the Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Conferences.

The goal of these events is to share effective practices, policies, and information and provide insights and best practices addressing many of the access, quality, and patient safety issues confronted by CAHs and RHCs.

Five interest tracks are available for CAH Conference submissions:

  • Innovation,
  • Financial,
  • Leadership,
  • Quality, and
  • Best practices

This year’s events will be held September 23 – 26 in Kansas City, MO.

The deadline for submissions is June 3.

There’s a longstanding notion in healthcare that patients with low-acuity conditions are a key driver of overcrowding and boarding in emergency departments – one that emergency medicine experts describe as a misconception that distracts from real solutions.

For years, efforts to ease strain on emergency departments have centered on the idea that healthcare providers should do more to educate patients on when it is appropriate to visit the ED versus an urgent care clinic, or that more urgent care centers should be built near high-volume Eds.

While well intentioned, emergency medicine experts say these efforts are ineffective because they are solely focused on ED input factors, rather than systematic issues across the broader healthcare delivery ecosystem.

CMS Seeks Input to Streamline Medicare Regulations, Comment by June 10

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is issuing this Request for information (RFI) to solicit public feedback on potential changes to Medicare regulations with the goal of reducing the expenditures required to comply with Federal regulations.

Examples of questions they would like input on include:

  • Are there documentation or reporting requirements within the Medicare program that are overly complex or redundant?
  • How can Medicare better align its requirements with best practices and industry standards?
  • Are there existing regulatory requirements that could be waived, modified, or streamlined to reduce administrative burdens?

Healthcare providers, researchers, stakeholders, health and drug plans, and other members of the public should submit all comments in response to this RFI through the online submission form.

Comments must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET, June 10, 2025.

VA Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center: Recruiting Veterans for Telehealth Study

The VA Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center is recruiting 126 Veterans nationwide by October 2026 for a telehealth physical therapy program.

This program provides high-intensity rehabilitation, coaching and social support to Veterans. It provides physical rehabilitation, coaching and social support to Veterans. It provides physical rehabilitation through telehealth, which is effective in improving and sustaining physical function for older Veterans.

This program will compare physical functioning results of the telerehabilitation group to the education control group.

To be eligible to participate in the study, Veterans must be a least 60 years old and have some need for physical therapy. Final eligibility for participation will be made by the program staff at the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System and the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
