The application due date for HRSA-23-125 Rural Health Care Coordination Program has been extended to May 26, 2023.

The purpose of this program is to implement activities that improve and expand the delivery of health care services through care coordination strategies in rural areas. Over the four-year period of performance, approximately 10 award recipients will use this funding to improve health outcomes through coordinated, community-wide, sustainable programs in rural communities. Eligible applicants include all domestic public or private, non-profit or for-profit entities, including community-based organizations, federally recognized tribes, tribal organizations, and faith-based organizations.

The purpose of this program is to establish and expand sustainable behavioral health care services for children and adolescents aged 5-17 years who live in rural communities, and to prevent substance misuse. Over the four-year period of performance, award recipients will use RCORP-CABH funding to establish and expand service delivery, provide training and peer mentorship, and develop community partnerships. USDA Seeks Applications for Grants to Build Community-Oriented High-Speed Internet Networks for People in Rural Areas

USDA is accepting applications for grants to build community-oriented, high-speed internet networks for people in rural areas.

The Department is making up to $79 million in grants available under the Community Connect program. Recipients may use the funds to establish high-speed internet networks that will foster economic growth and deliver enhanced educational, health care and public safety benefits.

Eligible applicants:

  • State and local governments
  • Federally recognized Tribes
  • Nonprofits
  • For-profit corporations and limited liability companies.

USDA does not provide funding directly to individuals under this program.

Rural Citizens Access to Telehealth (RCAT) 

The Rural Citizens Access to Telehealth (RCAT) project is a partnership between the Missouri Telehealth Network and the Department of Social Services, MO HealthNet Division. They will provide funding, education, and training opportunities, to eligible partners, to introduce or enhance existing telehealth services for rural providers accepting Medicaid patients.

USDA Seeks Applications for Technical Assistance Grants – Expand Access to Safe, Affordable and Equitable Housing for People in Rural America

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development under Secretary Xochitl Torres Small, has announced that the Department is accepting applications for technical assistance grants to preserve rental housing and expand access to safe, affordable and equitable housing for people in rural America.

USDA is making available $7.9 million in funding through its Rural Housing Service (RHS) and through two Multifamily Housing (MFH) Technical Assistance grant programs: the Nonprofit Transfer Technical Assistance (NP TA) Grant Program and the Off-Farm Labor Housing Technical Assistance (Off-FLH TA) Grant Program. This funding is available for eligible technical assistance providers seeking grants to provide technical assistance services to qualified applicants.

There is $6.9 million in grants available through the NP TA Grant Program. The program awards grants to eligible nonprofit organizations and public housing authorities (PHAs) to provide technical assistance and other services to enable affordable housing preservation through the transfer of MFH Direct Loan properties from current owners to nonprofits or PHAs.

Eligible grantees:

  • Public and private nonprofit organizations
  • Public Health Agencies (PHAs)
  • Tribal housing nonprofits
  • Tribally designated housing entities.

Another $1 million in grants will be available for eligible nonprofits through the Off-FLH TA Grant Program. This program awards grants to nonprofit organizations to provide technical assistance to applicants for Off-FLH loans and grants. These grants are used to increase the availability of affordable, decent housing for farm laborers.

Minimum Award amounts:

  • Nonprofit Transfer Technical Assistance – $100,000
  • Off-Farm Labor Housing Technical Assistance – $500,000

Maximum award amounts:

  • Nonprofit Transfer Technical Assistance – $500,000
  • Off-Farm Housing Technical Assistance – $250,000

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is accepting applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2023 Screening and Treatment for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders (MMHSUD) program – HRSA-23-085. Applications are due by June 2, 2023.

The purpose of this program is to expand health care providers’ capacity to screen, assess, treat, and refer pregnant and postpartum people for maternal mental health and substance use disorders. This will be accomplished by establishing, improving, and/or maintaining statewide or regional networks that provide real-time psychiatric consultation, care coordination support services, and culturally and linguistically appropriate training to maternity care providers and clinical practices. This program is also intended to help reduce maternal health inequities.

This program addresses all of MCHB’s goals. Award recipients will address these goals by:

  • Establishing new or enhancing existing statewide, tribal, or regional networks that expand health care provider capacity to assess
  • Treat, and refer pregnant and postpartum people with behavioral health concerns, especially in rural and medically underserved areas.

Accepting Applications – National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program

The Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) is accepting applications through April 27 for the National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program.

This program awards scholarships to students pursuing eligible primary care health professions training. In return, scholars commit to provide primary care health services in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).

Awardees must commit to a minimum of two years of full-time service and serve at a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) approved site in a HPSA.

This scholarship provides financial support for full-time enrollment in an eligible primary care health professions degree training program for up to four school years and includes:

Payment of tuition and eligible fees

An annual payment for other reasonable educational costs

Monthly stipends to assist with living expenses while pursuing health professions degree educational training program

After completion of the NHSC Scholarship Program (SP) service commitment, awardees may be eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program (NHSC-LRP).

Applicants must be a student pursuing primary care health professions training.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications through May 22 for the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Planning Development and Implementation grant – SM-23-024. The purpose of this program is to transform community behavioral health systems and provide comprehensive, coordinated behavioral health care by:

(a) Assisting organizations in the planning for and development and implementation of a new Comprehensive, Coordinated Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that meets the CCBHC Certification Criteria,

(b) providing a comprehensive range of outreach, screening, assessment, treatment, care coordination, and recovery supports based on a needs assessment that aligns with the CCBHC Certification Criteria, and

(c) supporting recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorders (SUD) by providing access to high-quality mental health and SUD services, regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.

Eligible Applicants:

Community based behavioral health non-profit organizations, or organizations that are either:

  • Part of a local government behavioral health authority or
  • Operated under the authority of the Indian Health Service, an Indian tribe, or tribal organization, or
  • An Urban Indian Organization pursuant to a grant or contract with the Indian Health Service under Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (25 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.)
