Technical Assistance for Hospitals – HRSA Rural Healthcare Provider Transition Project – Apply by August 15

Five small rural hospitals and certified Rural Health Clinics will be selected to receive one year of focused, virtual technical assistance designed to strengthen their organization’s understanding of the key elements of value-based care.

Project focus areas include:

  • Quality
  • Efficiency
  • Patient experience
  • Safety

Eligible applicants include:

  • Small rural hospitals
  • CMS certified rural health clinics

Selected applicants will be notified in September, and project activities begin in October 2024.

The Rural Telementoring Training Center (RTTP) provides free training, tools and technical assistance to support the implementation and evaluation of Telementoring programs for rural and remote health care workers.

This showcase is intended to introduce attendees to the RTTC and help them consider how the RTTC can support work in addressing public health priorities including maternal health, mental health and substance use, and health workforce.

Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from the RTTC leadership and partners.

The Health Resources and Administration is accepting applications for the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program. Eligible individuals who provide direct treatment or recovery support to patients with or in recovery from a substance use disorder at a Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program – approved facility can receive loan repayment assistance through the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Payment Program.

In exchange for loan repayment, you must provide six years of full-time employment that involves direct treatment or recovery support to patients with or in recovery from a substance use disorder at a Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program-approved facility.

The Health Resource Services and Administration’s (HRSA’s) National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is celebrating its second anniversary! In its first two years, the Hotline has received more than 33,000 calls and texts, serving pregnant and postpartum people and their loved ones.

The Hotline provides 24/7, free, confidential support, resources and referrals to any pregnant and postpartum mothers facing mental health challenges and their loved ones.

The service is available via phone and text in English or Spanish.

Eligible health care facilities can apply to become National Health Service Corps (NHSC)-approved sites. The application for new sites interested in becoming NHSC-approved is now open through June 25 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

NHSC approved sites provide outpatient, comprehensive primary health care services to people in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).

Benefits to becoming an NHSC-approved site include assistance in recruiting, hiring and retaining quality providers through programs such as the NHSC Rural Community Loan Repayment Program.

Since 1984, The Health Resource and Services Administration’s (HRSA’s) National Hansen’s Disease (Leprosy) Program (NHDP) has served as the epicenter of Hansen’s disease, including free consultations, trainings, and medications for leprosy treatment at no cost to the patient.

The NHDP Program’s Clinical Center is located in Baton Rouge, LA and also manages an ambulatory care network of 16 Federally supported outpatient clinics across 10 states and Puerto Rico where patients can receive the following medical care for Hansen’s disease-related condition, free of charge:

  • Antibiotics
  • Pathology diagnostic services
  • Physician visits at NHDP and clinics

Missouri Medicaid Tests New Transformation of Rural Community Health (ToRCH) Model

This new program aims to address social determinants of health and will have hospitals serve as community-based hubs, or regional leads, to direct strategy and coordinate the efforts of health care providers, community-based organizations (CBOs), and social service agencies within a designated rural community.

Medicaid funds will support hub activities:

  • Leadership
  • Data analysis
  • Management of community partnerships

Community partners may request funds to pay for:

  • Additional space
  • Purchase IT or other equipment
  • Purchase a vehicle
  • Obtain new training for staff

Funds will also be available to reimburse CBO partners for approved health related social needs services identified in the ToRCH communities, such as:

  • Supplemental health-related transportation
  • Food and nutrition education
  • Home-delivered medically appropriate meals
  • Housing remediation to address health risks

The first cohort of six hospitals will begin on July 1 of this year.

This program, administered by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP), supports hospitals in the Mississippi Delta region with projects that will improve their financial sustainability and allow for increased access to care in rural communities.

Approximately $2,000,000 across 5 awards will be aimed at financial and operational improvement, quality improvement, telehealth, and workforce development.
