The Rural Hospital Stabilization Program (RHSP) is funded by HRSA’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy and administered by the National Rural Health Resource Center.

RHSP aids rural hospitals, at no cost to them, to help them improve their financial stability by enhancing or expanding health care services that meet community needs.

Hospitals participating in the cohort-style program work to identify clinical areas where the expansion or addition of services would help to ensure that care is available locally, and develop those service lines to bolster patient volume, optimize service utilization, and improve cash flow.

2025 Missouri Preceptor Academy – MHA

Dedicated and competent preceptors are vital to the success of health care organizations and the retention of health care professionals. The mission of Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) is to take a proactive approach in the education and support of preceptors in the health care community.

Preceptors play a vital role in orienting new staff to their roles and integrating them into the department and organizational culture. The Preceptor Academy equips current and aspiring preceptors with essential education, tools and strategies to build strong preceptor-orientee relationships.

This interactive, one-day session explores real-world scenarios to:

  • Examine adult learning principles,
  • Analyze various learning methodologies,
  • and apply strategies for giving and receiving feedback.

Additionally, participants will define emotional intelligence and identify ways to use it for conflict management, coaching and professional development.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss techniques to promote constructive communication between the preceptee and preceptor,
  • Demonstrate how to provide effective and constructive feedback,
  • Discuss the appropriate style of conflict resolution to use in specific situations,
  • Identify your individual personality type,
  • Recognize the importance of the preceptor role in integrating new health care professionals into the work setting,
  • Discuss strategies to improve the retention of health care professionals, and
  • Identify strategies the preceptor can use to support the development of the preceptee’s clinical judgment.

Audience

  • Any registered nurse or allied health employee serving as a preceptor in a health care setting should attend.
  • A preceptor is responsible for introducing students and/or new employees to the profession.

Now Accepting Applications: Targeted Technical Assistance for Rural Hospitals Program (TTAP), Apply by September 30

The Targeted Technical Assistance for Rural Hospitals Program (TTAP) aims to provide technical assistance to rural hospitals to help maintain essential services locally. Four hospitals will be selected to receive intensive one-on-one technical assistance from consultants to address prioritized financial and operational needs.

The TTAP is a federally funded initiative that offers comprehensive technical assistance to rural hospitals to address financial and operational challenges and maintain essential health services for their communities.

Priority will be given to hospitals with the greatest demonstrated need for TA and the readiness to engage in in-depth technical assistance.

All hospitals will need to apply to be considered. Hospitals that applied last year and were not selected for the intensive TA cohort are encouraged to apply again.

The National Association of Rural Health Clinics’ Academy presents the only Nationally Certified Rural Health Clinic Professional (CRHCP) Online Course to enhance knowledge and successfully run an RHC.

Are you a director, clinic administrator, or other RHC professional looking to advance your career or grow in your role? The National Association of Rural Health Clinics (NARHC) is offering a unique full-spectrum course designed to teach individuals how to operate a successful rural health clinic.

This comprehensive course covers all aspects of RHC operations and provides you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful rural health clinic professional. Upon completion of the course and attainment of an 80% or higher exam score, individuals will earn their CRHCP certification.

The CHRCP Certification Provides:

  • Foundation and broad scope of RHC knowledge,

Rural Hospital Stabilization Program (RHSP) Fall 2025 Cohort – August 20

The FORHP funded National Rural Health Resource Center (the Center) provides tailored assistance to help hospitals improve financial stability, expand needed community services, and keep care close to home.

Eligible facilities include Critical Access Hospitals, Prospective payment System hospitals, Rural Emergency Hospitals, and Indian Health Service hospitals.

Last month the Center announced eight hospitals that were selected for the first cohort.

The Rural Hospital Stabilization Program (RHSP) is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA’s) Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) and administered by the National Rural Health Resource Center.

The ultimate goal of this program is to strengthen rural health care delivery nationwide. RHSP provides assistance to help hospitals improve financial stability by enhancing or expanding health care services that meet community needs.

Benefits of Participation

  • Improve financial position and increase operational efficiencies,
  • Enhance stability and sustain access to care,
  • Grow services to increase patient volume,
  • Align service to community needs, bolster revenue and reduce bypass, and
  • Enhance community perception of the hospital.

Hospitals participating in the cohort-style program work to identify clinical areas where expansion or addition of services would help to ensure that care is available locally, and develop those service lines to bolster patient volume, optimize service utilization and improve cash flow.

Hospitals that meet program expectations and are selected for participation may receive financial support for operating and equipment costs for service line development and a Community Engagement Champion.

SHOW-ME-ECHO: Improving Effective Care for Patients with Hepatitis C, September 6

The Hepatitis C ECHO empowers and supports primary care professionals to effectively and confidently treat patients suffering from liver diseases.

A multidisciplinary team of experts dedicated to the treatment of patients with all types of liver diseases, especially viral hepatitis and fatty liver disease, will meet with participants via interactive online videoconferencing from noon to 1 p.m. every 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month.

How does this ECHO work?

Together with a multidisciplinary team of experts and specialists, participants will:

  • Screen for and identify Hep C in patients
  • Prescribe the right medications to care for Hep C
  • Apply Hep C diagnosis and treatment best practices to treat patients
  • Detect and make referrals to treat health concerns that are related to Hep C
  • Serve as the local Hep C expert in their clinic and their part of the state

What does this ECHO offer?

  • NO COST for participating sites or individuals,
  • FREE continuing education for health care professionals,
  • Collaboration, support and ongoing learning with experts and other physicians, and
  • Patients get better care in their home community
