NRHA Now Accepting Rural Health Fellows Applications

NRHA’s Rural Health Fellows Leadership Program is a yearlong, intensive training that develops leaders who can articulate a clear and compelling vision for rural America.

Each year, NRHA selects 10 to 15 highly motivated individuals who have proven their dedication to improving the health of rural Americans through their educational or professional experience.

The goal is to educate and develop a network of diverse rural leaders who can serve in key positions in the association, affiliated advocacy groups, and local and state legislative bodies.

Applications for the 2025 Rural Health Fellows Program are now open.

Please join Stroudwater Associates, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and the National Association of Rural Health Clinics (NARHC) for a seven-part series on finance and revenue cycle for independent RHCs, building on concepts established in the 2023 Independent RHC Institute.

This series features a pre-session meeting to provide a recap of previously covered topics as well as some provider-based specific content.

This year, there will be two “office hours” sessions for attendees who are interested in asking follow-up questions specific to their independent RHC related to the 2024 content.

There is no cost for attendance – all who are interested in attending the sessions are permitted to register, free of charge.

CMS Now Accepting Applications for the Medicare Shared Savings Program – Apply by June 17

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is now accepting applications for Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program.

In this program, groups of doctors, hospitals and other health care providers collaborate, with the goal of offering coordinated high-quality care to people with Medicare.

ACOs inexperienced with risk-based payments and who provide care to rural and underserved beneficiaries may be interested in Advance Investment Payments, and those interested in alternative payments for primary care providers may consider the ACO Primary Care Flex Model. Interested ACOs must first apply to the Shared Savings Program.

Five small rural hospitals and certified Rural Health Clinics will be selected to receive one year of focused, virtual technical assistance designed to strengthen their organization’s understanding of the key elements of value-based care.

Project focus areas include:

AIHC Training Opportunity Capturing and Coding Social Determinants of Health for Physicians and Hospitals

Are you up to date on coverage changes in Medicare? Consider registering for this short course, offered by the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC).

Among several important coverage changes, Medicare now covers a Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Risk Assessment at no cost to the patient, when it’s provided as an optional Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) element as part of the same visit with the same date of service as the AWV.
