Health Workforce Resource Showcase: The Rural Telementoring Training Center, Thursday May 30
The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA’s), Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) invites you to a one-hour showcase of the Rural Telementoring Training Center (RTTC) with 15 minutes of Q&A to follow.
The RTTC provides free training, tools and technical assistance to support the implementation and evaluation of Telementoring programs for rural and remote health care workers. By using a “train-the-trainer” approach, the RTTC aims to provide the tools organizations need to develop or expand their own Telementoring programs.
The RTTC’s overarching goal is to support the delivery of evidence-based, high-quality Telementoring programs that expand access, build cultural proficiency, and improve the quality of health care in rural and remote America.
This showcase is intended to introduce you to the Rural Telementoring Training Center and help you consider how the RTTC can support your work in addressing public health priorities including maternal health, mental health and substance use, and health workforce.

Webinar: Improving Health Equity for Dually Eligible Enrollees in Rural Areas – Tuesday, May 21
More than two million people or 21 percent, who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid live in rural communities.
The federal Medicare and Medicaid Coordination Office is hosting a webinar to explore the health equity challenges facing rural communities-particularly as they affect individuals dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid-and provide innovative, evidence-based strategies health plans can employ to address them.
In this conversation, Resources for Integrated Care’s speakers will explore the health equity challenges facing rural communities particularly as they affect dually eligible individuals. Speakers will discuss health and social disparities in rural areas, the role of social determinants of health (SDOH), innovative partnerships, and provider engagement.

State Strategies to Improve Behavioral Health for Those Experiencing Homelessness
The Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) issued an Informational Bulletin to highlight available Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) opportunities to improve access to mental health (MH) and substance use disorder (SUD) services for individuals experiencing homelessness.
It discusses Medicaid demonstrations, the Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) Guidance and HRSN Framework to provide clinically appropriate services such as housing transition services and case management, and demonstration projects to improve access to the full continuum o9f care for SUD treatment, including in short-term residential treatment and inpatient settings.
It also provides a list of resources for improving access to MH and SUD treatment and to support for people with these conditions who are experiencing or at risk for homelessness.
According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, about 18 percent of people experiencing homelessness live in largely rural Continuums of Care, which are local planning bodies responsible for coordinating the full range of homelessness services in a geographic area.

During this one-hour webinar, presenters will share recent research findings on rural/urban differences in housing cost burden and quality of housing stock.
This webinar will also include results from a series of key informant interviews on challenges and opportunities to support housing and improve health for rural residents.
After attending, participants will be able to describe differences between rural and urban residents in basic housing access and quality measures.
Attendees will also be able to identify opportunities to improve housing as a social driver of health through policy and programming.
