NARHC Webinar – Ordering Over-The-Counter Tests from HRSA

In December, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced the launch of the HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program. Rural Health Clinics RHCs) are able to enroll and request over-the-counter COVID tests be shipped directly to RHCs or designated sites across the country. Hundreds of RHCs have successfully enrolled and received over-the-counter COVID testing supply.

The National Association of Rural Health Clinic (NARHC) will be hosting a webinar on Monday Feb. 14th at 2pm Eastern to provide a status update on the HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program and discuss how to properly enroll in the Health Provider Ordering Portal (HPOP) and the Diagnostic Provider Ordering Portal (DPOP).

Some RHCs have expressed issues with enrollment and registration due to extremely high demand for over-the-counter COVID tests and quick launch of the program for RHCs. HRSA has been extremely dedicated to resolving issues as fast as possible and has funded NARHC through a cooperative agreement to help RHCs through the enrollment and ordering process.

The Office of Rural Health and Primary Care is now accepting Student Loan and Loan Repayment applications for the Nurse Student Loan (NSL) Program, Nurse Loan Repayment Program (NLRP), Primary Care Resource Initiative for Missouri (PRIMO) Program, and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Apply between January 1, 2022 and March 1, 2022.

Applications submissions will not be accepted after March 1, 2022. Applications can be submitted via the following submission methods:

Telehealth Learning Series Invitation: Innovative Rural Programs

This upcoming webinar will feature two recipients from HRSA’s Telehealth Network Grant Program (TNGP).  The TNGP’s purpose is to promote rural Tele-emergency services by enhancing telehealth networks to deliver Emergency Department (ED) consultation services via telehealth to rural providers without emergency care specialists.

Q1: Can students apply for these loan programs?

Answer: No. These loans are for public schools and educational institutions only. Individuals, such as students, CANNOT apply for these programs. 

Q2: How are students able to apply for funding from the awarded loan?

Answer: Students can apply directly to their awarded school or educational institution. Contact your financial aid office for more information.

Q3: Who is responsible for administering the loan?

Answer: The institution who has been awarded a loan is responsible for administering the loan. However, Program Officers are available to provide guidance to financial aid officers.

Q4: Are participating schools and educational institutions required to have a loan servicer?

Answer: Yes. Any participating school or educational institution is required to have a loan servicer to service the loans and provide due diligence on the loans in order to avoid dealing with uncollectible loans.

Q5: Can a school or educational institution apply for more than one loan program?

Answer: Yes. Applicants should submit one application per loan program of interest.

Take the Inaugural State of LGBTQ Health National Survey!

What is the state of LGBTQ health?

The National Coalition for LGBTQ Health is launching its Inaugural State of LGBTQ Health National Survey™ to assess the healthcare landscape for LGBTQ patient populations. This survey covers intersectional topics in LGBTQ health including clinical/behavioral health, stigma, social justice, housing/homelessness, health disparities among communities of color, and COVID-19.

The insights you provide by completing this brief yet comprehensive survey will help inform ongoing advocacy, education, research, and training activities that support LGBTQ health care. Your input also will help determine the theme for the Coalition’s 20th Annual National LGBTQ Health Awareness Week to be held March 21-25, 2022.

Don’t miss this important opportunity to provide input on the state of the LGBTQ healthcare landscape. The deadline for participation is Friday, February 18, 2022.

The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. All individual responses are kept confidential and data will only be reported in aggregate.

HRSA Takes Action to Fight the Pandemic, Improve Health Outcomes, and Promote Health Equity

Date: February 3, 2022

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) continues to improve health outcomes in underserved communities, promote health equity, and support the health workforce. Some of the actions taken include:

  • $103 million in American Rescue Plan funding awarded to 45 grantees to improve the retention of health care workers and help respond to the nation’s critical staffing needs by reducing burnout and promoting mental health and wellness among the health care workforce.
  • More than $2 billion in Provider Relief Fund (PRF) Phase 4 General Distribution payments to more than 7,600 providers across the country.
  • Updating the comprehensive preventive care and screening guidelines for women and for infants, children, and adolescents that, under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), certain group health plans and insurance issuers must cover with no out-of-pocket cost.
