Webinar: When Marketing Increases Liability: How Healthcare Marketing Practices Impact Cyber Insurance Coverage, August 28

Your marketing stack might be killing your cyber coverage.

Today’s marketing and analytics tools – Pixels, scripts, tracking tech – are no longer just a privacy concern. They’re an insurability risk. From HIPAA enforcement to stricter cyber underwriting, digital operations are under the microscope.

Risk & Exposure is a new webinar series for legal, compliance, finance, and risk leaders working in healthcare. It will dig into how digital strategies drive liability, impact cyber coverage, and how to defend your organization from both legal and financial fallout.

This first session, they will break down how insurers are assessing marketing tech stacks – and how tactics you’ve used for years may now be driving up premiums, increasing claims denial risk, or triggering policy exclusions. Learn from legal and cyber insurance experts on what’s changed, what to watch for, and how to take back control.

What You’ll Learn

  • How insurers evaluate your marketing stack – and what counts against you,
  • Real examples of denied claims, higher premiums, and regulatory penalties,
  • The full cost of privacy exposure – not just legal, but financial,
  • What cross-functional teams need to prove defensibility, and
  • What’s coming next in the Risk & Exposure series.

FDA Declares End to National IV Fluid Injection Shortage

FDA Declares End to National IV Fluid Injection Shortage

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed the nationwide shortage of sodium chloride 0.9% injection, or IV saline, has officially ended.

According to an August 8 statement for agency Commissioner Marty Makary, MD, the IV saline shortage, which has affected hospitals and clinics across the country, is no longer listed in the FDA’s Drug Shortage Database. The FDA credited increased manufacturing capacity and temporary importation efforts for stabilizing supply.

In addition, to help address the shortage, Dr. Makary said the agency worked alongside the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response and other industry manufacturers to restore supply levels. While the sodium chloride 0.9% injection is considered stable, the agency noted in the statement that other IV solutions remain in short supply.

Webinar: Hospital Closures are Rising – Build a Back Office That Bends, Not Breaks, August 26

With over 100 rural hospitals closed in the past decade – and hundreds more at risk – hospital closures are no longer rare events. When one hospital shuts down, nearby systems absorb the fallout: patient volume spikes, provider onboarding slows and already stretched administrative teams are pushed to the brink. For executives charged with revenue integrity and workforce readiness, the question is straightforward: Will our back office keep up when the next facility goes dark?

Join Becker’s Healthcare on August 26 to examine real-world playbooks for financial and operational resilience. Two healthcare insiders from Medallion will share lessons learned from organizations that absorbed sudden volume pikes without derailing onboarding, credentialing or reimbursement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the full lifecycle impact of hospital closures and who absorbs the operational fallout,
  • Identify why legacy systems and manual workflows can’t withstand today’s complexity,
  • Discover how to speed up credentialing, onboarding and compliance when every minute matters, and
  • Explore tactical strategies for scaling without burning out your administrative clinical teams.

Policy Update: Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Electronic Prescribing, Real-Time Prescription Benefit and Electronic Prior Authorization (HTI-4) Final Rule, Effective October 1, 2025

Policy Update: Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Electronic Prescribing, Real-Time Prescription Benefit and Electronic Prior Authorization (HTI-4) Final Rule, Effective October 1, 2025

On July 31, 2025, the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy/Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ASTP/ONC) finalized the HTI-4 final rule. The new rule adds several new certification criteria and related standards to the ONC Health IT Certification Program.

Specifically, the rule finalizes the use of certified EHRs to submit prior authorizations, select drugs consistent with a patient’s insurance coverage, and exchange electronic prescription information with pharmacies and insurance plans.

These updates were originally proposed in the HTI-2 NPRM released in August 2024 and were finalized as part of the FY2026 CMS Hospital Inpatient Prospective System (IPPS) final rule (CMS-1833-F). This regulation is effective October 1, 2025.
